Mermade’s infrared thermal brush dupe leaves shoppers ‘in love’

‘It gives me the most perfect smooth and bouncy blowout look.’

If you haven’t heard of a Thermal Brush for hair, you might have been living under a rock, because lately they’ve become the top trending hot hair tool on TikTok.

Popular as they are, though, Mermade Hair’s Aussie founder Tara Simich was struggling to find one that worked on her super-long hair, so she created one of her own.

The Mermade Infrared Thermal Brush, $129, is a heated round brush with an infrared light beam that works to deliver volume, bounce and shine to hair.

A dupe of much more expensive versions, it can help to reduce frizz and detangle hair, with bristle-free zones that allow more heat to penetrate the hydrogen bonds of hair, thus creating more curl and shape.

‘’Most of the thermal brushes on the market caused a lot of breakage and didn’t add any curl or shape to my long hair,’’ Simich explains.

‘’So I was determined to re-engineer what we know as the Thermal Brush, and make it half the price.’’

What is the Mermade Infrared Thermal Brush for?

The tool works on any hair length or type to help give a bouncy, voluminous blowout look. At the same time, it smooths out hair and reduces frizz.

It shapes and curls the hair like a long curling tong, but has bristles like a round hair brush.

The infrared light beam smooths and locks in moisture through direct contact with the hair, ensuring more effective styling.

A Thermal Brush isn’t to be confused with a Blow Dry Brush – there is no air coming out of the Mermade Thermal Brush.

Why is it called a dupe?

At $129, The Mermade Infrared Thermal Brush is about half the price of similar ‘’high-end’’ versions on the market.

What are some of the features?

The brush has an LCD display so you can set your desired temperature, with heat settings from 80C to 210C.

It heats fast (60 seconds), and has the all-important Auto Shut Off function after 60 minutes.

It also has universal voltage, meaning you can use it when travelling overseas, plus a 2-year warranty and money back guarantee.

What are shoppers saying?

Early reviews have been glowing.

‘’My hair is naturally super frizzy and using this tool, it has completely smoothed my hair out,’’ one customer wrote online, giving a five-star review.

‘’It gives me the most perfect smooth and bouncy blowout look. I’m in love!’’

‘’It’s the perfect way to add bounce and curl to my dry hair,’’ said another.

‘’Unlike a drying brush it doesn’t create any extra frizz or flyaways, so there’s always a nice smooth frizz-free finish. Love this brush!’’

‘’I’m a certified clumpy girl, I don’t know how to style my hair properly and this thermal brush is my saviour,’’ a third shopper wrote.

‘’It’s so easy to use – it literally just glides through my hair like butter, no tangles, no tugging, no breaking.

‘’I stopped using my Dyson Airwrap now because I didn’t like how loud it was. I only use the Mermade Thermal Brush every day now and receive so many compliments from my colleagues at work. Thanks Mermade!’’

The Mermade Infrared Thermal Brush, $129, is available for pre-order, with dispatch from August 2.
