Comics biggest legend, Marvel creator Stan Lee has died at the age of 95.
Lee fathered some of the world’s biggest superheroes including Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor and the X-Men.
His death comes just under a year and a half after his wife Joan Lee died in July 2017 at 93. They had been married for 60 years at the time of her death.
An attorney for Lee’s daughter, Kirk Schneck, told CNN that he was taken by ambulance from his Los Angeles home on Monday morning to Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center, where he later died.
The cause of death is not yet known.
In 2006, he reflected, “I never thought that Spider-Man would become the worldwide icon that he is. I just hoped the books would sell and I’d keep my job.”
He went on to tell the Washington Post, “I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers.”
“And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain people, you’re doing a good thing.”
