Is she a Goddess that fell to Earth? No, she's Emily Ratajkowski

Emily Ratajkowski has accomplished so much since appearing nude in the music video for Blurred Lines that you could be forgiven for forgetting she was ever in the video at all. The 2012 song was how most people ended up first laying eyes on the stunning American model, unless you were a fan of the hit television series iCarly. Yep, devotees of this mid-2000s classic will recognise Emily as Tasha, the girlfriend of character Gibby. We can confidently speak for all people when we say – what a glow up!

Her feature film debut was in the 2014 psychological thriller Gone Girl, where we saw her play Ben Affleck’s mistress (a far cry from her role in iCarly!) Emily followed up this role with features in other films like We Are Your Friends, where she starred alongside heartthrob Zac Efron, Cruise and in I Feel Pretty with Amy Schumer.

Her first professional runaway modelling gig was for Marc Jacobs during New York Fashion Week in 2015 and she has been unstoppable ever since, modelling for the likes of Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbanna and Versace, and acting as a spokesperson for established brands like DKNY and Paco Rabanne.

But it doesn’t stop there. Emily is a staunch feminist and has had no qualms with putting Piers Morgan back in his place in the past. Emily is also the head of swimwear and fashion brand Inamorata, adding ‘entrepreneur’ to her long list of achievements.

We already know how amazing she is. What we want to know this time is how she maintains that banging’ body!

Emily Ratajkowski’s diet

Judging by Em’s ridiculously toned figure, she must adhere to some crazy exercise plan and never even look at a carb, let alone eat one – right? Well, that’s where you’d be wrong. Emily isn’t a fan of the gym and only occasionally gets the time to be active. Instead of committing to a specific gym exercise plan, she prefers to go to yoga or head out on a hike with her friends. Hey, we get it, the gym can be pretty boring in comparison to the great outdoors. She doesn’t have a personal trainer either, preferring to take a self-directed approach to her fitness.

What does Emily Ratajkowski eat in a day?

Some days she eats a little, other days she eats a lot! The 26-year old was extremely candid about her eating habits when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2017. She insisted she wasn’t trying to act cute by claiming that she loves to chow down on a big meal at home. “I’ve had people cone over and watch me eat and say ‘I’ve lost all respect for you'” the star joked.

Here’s Emily’s average day on a plate

Breakfast

  • For breakfast, Emily grabs a black coffee and a pastry, preferably a Kouign-amann from the bakery near her home. A Kouign-amann isn’t just any old pastry. It’s been described by The New York Times as “the fattiest pastry in all of Europe”, due to the sheer amount of butter and sugar that goes into one of these things *drools*

Lunch

  • Emily keeps it simple, sticking to the humble sandwich or having a salad unless she’s on location for work. “If I’m on set, I’ll have catering, but I’m well behaved with that stuff,” she says. “It’s easy to go overboard.” We bet it is! Emily is also a big fan of vegetable juices like turmeric or beetroot blends.

Dinner

  • Like many other busy young women her age, dinner is often a chance for Emily to socialise and touch base with her friends. It isn’t unusual for her to eat out or order-in some Indian or Thai. When she wants something light, she tends to opt for sushi. When Emily does get the chance to cook at home, she loves to get a a healthy serving of protein on the table. “I’m a carnivore,” she says. “I really like to eat meat. I crave iron.”

Why Emily Ratajkowski’s diet works for her

We can’t overlook the fact that Emily is genetically blessed. Seriously. When they were handing out good looks and fast metabolisms, she definitely stood in line twice!

Emily doesn’t have a diet and exercise plan as such, but she seems to be doing something that most resembles intuitive eating. Intuitive eating has been described as an ‘anti-diet’. People who eat intuitively eat what they like, when they like, and don’t worry about whether a food is a “bad” or a “good” food. Eating this way can help get rid of the guilt or fear we can sometimes associate with food, and help us focus on the positives instead. Emily has said that, for her “it’s about feeling good about what you eat.” Instead of counting calories or running miles on the treadmill, she concentrates on keeping her diet “really balanced to give my body energy and to be healthy.” Keeping it simple, Em, we love it!

Is eating this way safe?

To definitively answer whether eating this way is safe or not, you’d have to be a qualified health professional who had had a consultation with Emily herself. But from what we can see on Emily’s Instagram, the model seems to have a love-love relationship with food. Her preferred method of exercising on her own terms and being thoughtful, but not obsessive, about food clearly works for her. If you’re trying to make changes to your weight and diet,  talk to your GP or a qualified personal trainer and find out if an eating plan like this is for you.
