Is everyone’s favourite Spiderman couple officially taking their relationship to the next level?
Rumours of Tom Holland and Zendaya’s engagement have consistently swirled over the past year and whilst fans were convinced the rumours were true thanks to a certain ring on a certain finger, it looks like the couple are keeping any relationship developments under wraps.
In February 2023, Zendaya posted a story on her Instagram account saying goodnight to her followers – and fans quickly took note of a stunning ring.
Is this proof she and Tom Holland are engaged? Maybe! It’s definitely not the first time the couple have been the subject of engagement rumours.
However, in the months since she hasn’t been spotted wearing the ring, and the couple haven’t made any further announcements.
That’s not to say the pair haven’t given the fans *any* tidbits of new information.
What has Zendaya said about Tom Holland?
In July 2024, a source revealed to US Weekley that the couple are still going strong. “These two are the real deal,” they told the publication. “They started as besties, and that’s [why] their relationship is rock solid.”
“Their families are all in” on the relationship, they added. “[They] think they’re perfect together.”
The latest quotes come after Zendaya herself made a rare few comments about her relationship in an interview with Elle in August 2023, explaining why she and Tom prefer to keep their relationship private. “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public,” she said. “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love.”
“But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
Tom, on his press rounds for The Crowded Room in June 2023 also gave fans a sweet update on his relationship with Zendaya and whilst they may not be engaged yet – they are definitely going strong.
During an interview with Buzzfeed, the Spiderman star was asked if he had “rizz” ie, Charisma.
“I have no rizz whatsoever, I have limited rizz,” he laughed. “I need you to fall in love with me, really, for it to work. So, long game. Probably making a movie with each other—it definitely helps when the characters are falling in love with one another, you can sort of blur the lines a little bit. That’s kind of where my rizz is at. And, you know, I’m locked up. I’m happy and in love so I’ve got no need for rizz.”
In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom also shared why the couple keeps their relationship mainly out of the public eye.
“Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible,” he explained. “We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”
Are Zendaya and Tom Holland Engaged?
So where did rumours of Tom Holland and Zendaya’s engagement begin? On November 30, a Twitter account called Pop Hive, which has over 166k followers and describes itself as “the #1 pop community in the world” shared a photograph of the pair, explaining that they were “reportedly engaged.”
Despite not naming any source or revealing where these reports came from, the original tweet quickly went viral, garnering over half a million likes.
The rumours weren’t entirely left of field though, with US Weekly publishing an article the week before claiming the pair’s relationship was “serious and permanent,” after more than a year of dating.
A source told the outlet that Tom and Zendaya, both 26, were “planning for a real future together” and “in settling-down mode.”
And so mass hysteria ensued, with Twitter accounts, fan pages and TikTok excitedly sharing the news.
Until Claire Stoermer, Zendaya’s own mother seemingly set the record straight.
Taking to Instagram, Claire shared a cryptic Instagram story about the definition of “clickbait.”
“Clickbait typically refers to the practice of writing sensationalized or misleading headlines in order to attract clicks on a piece of content,” the quote read. “It often relies on exaggerating claims or leaving out key information in order to encourage traffic.”
“The term is generally used in a dismissive sense,” the message went on.
Fans quickly concluded that the message was in direct response to the frenzied marriage-related rumours, and we can’t help but agree.
Zendaya and Tom are notoriously private about their relationship, so we’ll just have to wait and see if there is any substance to the rumours.
