Jayden told the camera in a confessional before his performance that he hasn’t “done much performing in front of other people, at all.” In fact, when asked if it was because he struggles with confidence he agreed, admitting it can be “pretty bad”.
However, Jayden revealed to host Ricki-Lee how much singing means to him. “Singing to me was an escape. Like growing up, I sort of had it a bit rough here and there, with mum and dad and myself, in and out of homes.”
Once hitting the stage, judge Nicole Scherzinger asks the 17-year-old, “Do you gig a lot?”
“This is actually my first time even singing into a mic really”, he replies, “I’m pretty nervous”.
Nerves aside, it became clear as soon as Jayden opened his mouth to sing that the crowd was mesmerised by his talent.
After his jaw-dropping performance, judge Lucy Durack was seen wiping away tears before Nicole addressed Jayden.
“There is something to be said for just being yourself and being vulnerable,” she said, “One of my favourite sayings is, ‘If you feel like you don’t fit into this world it’s because you were born to create a new one'”.
Lucy added: “That raw passion is incredibly moving, I was floored.”
Obviously, Jayden made it through to the next round.
