During a conversation with British morning show Lorraine, Ed explained the meaning behind his daughter’s name.

“I realise some people think it’s quite a strange name” he explained, “but my wife’s called Cherry, and she is the only Cherry that I’ve ever met and I think that she’s the only Cherry that she’s ever met and I quite like that.”

The singer also explained the sentiment behind his eldest daughter’s middle name ‘Antarctica’:

“I’ve basically toured every single continent but I’ve never been to Antarctica so that was always on our list,” Ed explained.

Apple

When Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced the name of their daughter in 2004 the world was confused.

Whilst definitely not anywhere close to the controversial baby names of recent years, the name Apple made headlines around the world as people struggled to understand the fruit-inspired name.

Recently Gwyneth explained how the couple came across the name in an Instagram Q&A.

When Beyoncé and Jay-Z announced their daughter’s name as Blue Ivy Carter in 2012, the name was met with very mixed responses.

From conspiracy theories on the influence of the illuminati to in-depth analyses of the name’s origins, people were very intrigued to say the least.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z also welcomed twins Rumi and Sir Carter in 2017 and whilst their names were also met with some hesitation, the world was far more accustomed to the bizarre baby name trend and we weren’t quite as taken aback.

Sunday Rose

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban introduced Sunday Rose to the world in 2008.

According to her grandfather, Dr. Antony Kidman, the name Sunday was inspired by the art world, telling The Daily Telegraph, “there was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a prominent patron of the arts in Victoria.”

“I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John. She was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it.”
